Meet Your Counselor

Madison Swayze, LPC-MHSP, M.Ed, NCC

I became a counselor after being inspired by people’s stories and having a passion for justice. I graduated from Berry College with a Bachelor’s of Arts Honors in Psychology and minored in Spanish and History. I went straight into my getting a Master’s of Education in Professional Counseling from Middle Tennessee State University. I have gained experience through an internship at The Refuge Center for Counseling and then as a school-based therapist at Centerstone.

Fun facts about me

  • I have ADHD (squirrel?!) and know the struggle of managing distractions.

  • I love history! Bring me all your most fun or obscure history facts!

  • I don’t like coffee (I know, I know, how do I survive?)

  • I enjoy writing novels.

  • I own a herd of cattle!

  • I love personality tests and find them fascinating in learning more about ourselves (ISFJ and Enneagram 6 here!)

  • “Anybody want a peanut?”

I love to work with people between the ages of 12 and up who have been through some tough circumstances and are struggling in different areas of life (friends, school, family, all the things!)… I enjoy working with clients to find their biggest strengths. I incorporate mind, body and soul as each part works together to develop people as a whole. I have completed trainings in EMDR, TF-CBT, and trauma sensitive-yoga. I love engaging with clients in unique ways and incorporating movement during sessions as a way for clients to get to know themselves better. My life experiences are different from my clients, but I hope to cheer them on as they develop their story and find their voice.
